The Art of Oceanstars
Book
Back in 2017 I ventured to collect the elements of Oceanstars, an original comic series I started developing in 2016. While the series chapters are still in progress I’ve longed to create my own artbook thus the artbook was born.
Along with the original design, I plan to update the book with new develops from the story since its 2017 by 2024.
Building an Authentic Artbook
The Goal: To create a professional artbook in likeness to recognizable animation studios.
In order to make an authentic artbook I first studied the from the ones that I had collected through the years, pulling inspiration for elements that could really bring Oceanstars to life.
Book samples included: The Art of Princess Mononoke and The Art of Zootopia
Each book had similar elements and themes met to engage the audience, from which I produce a list of core pieces to curate and design chapters around:

This led to a 4 month long effort to draw full bodied concept art and collect older pieces so far back to even the very cover design in 2014:
The Hardcover Book
After all elements were created, I proceeded to design the book in InDesign, producing layouts for the final print.

What’s on the horizon?
As I continue to illustrate and write every chapter, the world of Oceanstars is ever expanding, so I look forward to producing an updated artbook in 2024 with new characters and developments.
